AICC

The Amateur Inter- Club Championship is an annual ski racing competition between amateur teams from a variety of alpine ski clubs and promotes friendly competition and the building of bonds within the arena of amateur racing.

AICC

The AICC was inaugurated by the Kandahar in 2008 and typically welcomes teams from around ten ski clubs who take turns to host the event in their home resort.  This has helped renew historical connections between the Arlberg Kandahar clubs and develop friendships with new ones.  The rotation of hosting duties also enhances every racer’s enjoyment through exposure to a plethora of beautiful resorts.  To date, AICC has been held in Switzerland, Italy, Austria and France.

AICC teams of four athletes are divided into categories by sex and three age groups (18-44, 45-59, 60+), allowing amateur ski racers to enjoy friendly competition whatever stage of life they are at.  The competition results are based on performances in Giant Slalom and Super-G races.  However, a fun parallel team race is also organised in which teams are formed of athletes from a mixture of categories and clubs, further enhancing inter-club relations.

The 2019 event takes place 14-16 March and will be hosted in Mürren by the Kandahar.  Entailing a James Bond-themed dinner in the revolving Piz Gloria Restaurant atop the Schilthorn on 15th March, and a Gala Dinner in the majestic Palace Hotel on 16th March, the social activities promise to be as spectacular as the racing!

The Club is keen to field several teams so if you’d like to race, please click here to register your interest.

Race training with amazing instructors will be offered for anyone who is interested, participants and supporters alike from Monday 11th March to 13th March.  You can book as an individual or clubs can book for their teams.  You can book for all three days or just one.  The cost is £75.00 per person per day.  Please click here for more information.

Accomodation can be booked via the Tourist Office in Mürren or with your preferred hotel or apartment directly.  Most hotels are offering special prices for AICC participants so please remember to ask for these.  Alternatively, for early birds, several rooms at the Palace Hotel have been prepared and can be rented for a minimum of three nights or longer if you wish.  Please click here for further information.
