The Competition is open to all Kandahar Ski Club members however professional photographers may not enter. 

The Competition will have two categories:

1/  An open “free for all” category with no set subject.

2/  An Alpine category, which does have to have an Alpine theme, whether it be sport, scenery, people, flora or fauna. 

Additionally, the photographer with the most successful entries will be awarded a trophy as Kandahar Photographer of the Year to keep for a year.

All entries are welcome whether film, digital, black and white or colour photographs and whether taken by mobile phone, a compact, or DSLR camera.  Entries do not have to be current ie taken in 2019. 

Images may be digitally enhanced eg to remove spots or scratches, and may be resized, cropped, lightened or darkened, but may not be manipulated excessively so as to alter their truth or authenticity. The Judge reserves the right to exclude any image(s) believed to have been excessively manipulated.

Digital image entries should be electronically transmitted, ideally as jpegs, if possible resized to 1024 x 718 pixels at 300dpi.  Other formats will be accepted but it may not be possible to show them on the website.

Print entries must be 8 inches x 10 inches (ie A4 size) and should be mounted.

Each entry  must show the following:

1. Title

2. Entrant's name, address, phone number and email address

3. Age if under 21

The maximum total number of entries is 5.

If sending prints please send SAE and appropriate packaging for safe return.  In the absence of this, prints will be disposed of after the competition.  All reasonable care will be taken in the handling of exhibits, but no liability can be accepted by the Club for any loss or damage howsoever caused.


The Judge will be independent person (not a Club Member) who is recognised by the Royal Photographic Society as an experienced and competent judge and will not know the author of the photograph when judging.   The judging will take place in November and the results announced at the AGM.  The Judge's decision will be final.


The copyright to the images submitted remains with the photographer, but by entering the Competition, entrants thereby allow the Club to reproduce, without charge, the image(s) in the Kandahar Review, on the website or elsewhere, and/or to use the photograph(s) for promotional purposes or for exhibition.

Submission of any entries implies acceptance of these conditions.
